If you are serious about finding a non-surgical solution for your serious neck or back problems, then you might have encountered information regarding a procedure known as Spinal Decompression. Although it may sound like some form of medieval torture, it is an FDA cleared technique of traction therapy that has been used in the treatment of low back pain for decades. Spinal Decompression is a type of long axis computerized traction applied to the neck or back. Its primary goal is to strengthen the spine and for the table to simulate your discs normal “pump mechanism” which has typically failed in most if not all Spinal Decompression candidates. Simulation of the pump mechanism helps to bring water, oxygen, and nutrients into the disc so that it can heal over time.
Spinal Decompression treatments have helped many patients suffering from a variety of painful conditions including, cervical disc bulge, herniated disc, bulging discs, lower back pain, degenerative discs, back pain, leg pain, sciatica and spinal stenosis.
How is it done?
- A doctor will need to take a detailed history, review your MRI findings, and perform a thorough examination to determine whether or not you are eligible for Spinal Decompression treatments.
- You are fitted with a harness around your pelvis.
- You lie face down or face up on a computer-controlled table.
- A doctor operates the computer treatment based upon your respective needs.
- Most treatment last around 30 minutes and programs span four days per week for 60 to 90 days.
In addition to being a noninvasive method for treating back and neck problems, Spinal Decompression treatments also provide an alternative to using pain medication that can become addictive. Although pain medications are usually safe in low doses, they only numb the pain for brief periods of time, so they are not an effective long-term solution for chronic pain. Plus, there are a variety of risks associated with their long-term use including breathing and heart issues, drowsiness, physical dependence, tolerance, sleep disorders, constipation, lower hormone levels and even tooth decay.
